So what shall it be tonight? A ghost story? Maybe a twisted tale of revenge or longing or greed? What? My story. Why not? It's a good one, if I don't say so myself. Take a seat and listen to 'The Spirits of Eventide.'
From the Catacombs
Anita Marie Moscoso joins Lemurian Abbey and The Order of Soul Food
I have come to the Abbey in search of the true story behind the legend of the Grateful Dead.
On my travels I was told a story about a man who had been chased into a cemetery by a band of thieves. They were going to rob and then kill him. The man began to pray as they cleared the cemetery gates and in his prayers he included the souls of those buried in cemetery.
The part of the legend not widely repeated is that the man was chased into the part of the cemetery where the paupers, suicides, the executed and other lost souls were laid to rest with not even a simple prayer to see them to the next world.
In the legend, as the man finished his prayers the dead rose from their graves, crypts and mausoleums and defended the man against the robbers.
The dead saved his life in gratitude for his simple prayer.
This story was suppose to have happened in the old cemetery across the road from here.
I have taken residence here and I hope to learn the secrets of the Grateful Dead and the other secrets that are supposed to be buried in the Catacombs.
Dead Men do tell tales, as any forensics expert will tell you.
And I am here to listen to them.
