Cobar Railway Station on track
to Cyber Space
Following the cessation of passenger rail services in the early 1970's Cobar's heritage-listed Railway Station, constructed in 1892, was largely unused up until the late 1990's.

However, Cobar Railway Station has been given a new lease of life, thanks to the support of NSW Rail Estate, Government funding, voluntary contributions and in-kind support from the Cobar community

The Station now boasts a community facility with public access to state-of-the-art technology. There are computers for 'surfing' the net, receiving and sending e-mail, word processing, video conferencing, web design and a photocopy facility, all in the restored building.

Cobar Railway Station is now on track to Cyber Space. The Station provides contact with another old Railway Station at Bourke, sending messages along the barbed wire fence, broadcasting coming events, festivals and gossip of general interest.
